African Food Security Urban Network (AFSUN) and MDPESA cooperate

The AFSUN is an African-Canadian partnership network of universities, NGO's, community organizations and municipal networks with interests and expertise in urban food security in the SADC region. AFSUN conducts research, offers graduate and in-service training, provides policy advice, and promotes food security programs at the community level. AFSUN is funded by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) through its University Partners in Cooperation and Development Program (UPCD). The network has hubs at the Program in Urban Food security (PUFS) at the University of Cape Town and the Souther University and partners in Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

MDEPSA and AFSUN agreed to cooperate in activities and programs that are consistent with the mandate, goals and objectives of both and which advance the development and implementation of a policy environment that will enhance the food security of the urban poor in the towns and cities of the Southern African Development Community (SADC).
