MDP-ESA Becomes the 8th African Member of the United Nations Public Finance and Administration
MDP-ESA has become the 8th African organisation to be admitted to the prestigious United Nat ions Public Administration Network (UNPAN). MDP-ESA was addimited on the strength of her contribution to the promotion of participatory budgeting and governance in general at sub-national level in Africa. The mission of UNPAN is to promote the sharing of knowledge, experiences and best practices throughout the world in sound public policies, effective public administration and efficient civil services, through capacity-building and cooperation among the United Nations Member States, with emphasis on south-south cooperation. UNPAN, sponsored by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA), and is managed by the Division for Public Administration and Development Management (DPADM) of the United Nations, UNPAN provides the members and users with the various services, including:

Online information services, such as information on the UN programmes /projects on public policies, public administration and finance; information on the best practices and relevant experiences at international, regional and national levels; and information on education and training activities of interest in universities, research institutes and academic institutions;

Online training programmes, materials and facilities;

Online advisory services, interactive Questions & Answers and the UNPAN help desk;

Online conferences/workshops; and
-
Online worldwide directories in public administration and finance.
UNPANis already involved in marketing the Africa Regional Conference and Workshop on Participatory Budgeting thanks to Madam Haiyan Qian, UNPAN Coordinator.
